About this role
The Senior Logistics Manager provides Operational Management and Leadership for Logistics teams in support of material planning for programme and operational demand, inventory control, warehousing and distribution activities to meet business requirements. You will manage receipt and dispatch of materials and inventory, engaging with external and internal stakeholders. Lead effective inventory management and control of stock, liaising with Supply Chain Management and international shipping while reporting to the central logistics sub function. Oversee warehousing for appropriate storage and any required inspection, testing or maintenance to corporate standards.
Provide management and leadership of all logistics personnel in your area, ensuring the team has capabilities to fulfil tasks now and meet future business needs. Promote through life management of material, GFA, consumables and spares from demand identification to disposition. Manage effective transport activities within your area of accountability.
AWE operates a 9-day working fortnight, giving every other Friday off plus 270 hours annual leave. Due to the classified nature of the work, there are limited opportunities to work from home—the successful candidate will spend most time onsite. Deliver improvements in performance for all aspects of logistics within your area.
Requirements
- Proven leadership and management skills for logistics teams
- Experience in material planning and through life management of inventory, consumables and spares
- Knowledge of inventory control processes and stock reporting
- Expertise in warehousing operations including storage, inspection, testing and maintenance to standards
- Ability to manage receipt, dispatch and transport of materials with stakeholders
- Skills in supply chain liaison and international shipping coordination
- Track record of delivering logistics performance improvements
Responsibilities

- Lead through life management of material, GFA, consumables and spares required to support capability and operational deliverables, from demand identification through to disposition
- Accountable for receipt and dispatch of materials and inventory within your area, including engagement with external and internal stakeholders
- Manage effective inventory management and control of stock within your area, liaising with Supply Chain Management and international shipping, and reporting inventory accounts
- Manage effective warehousing activities, ensuring appropriate storage of materials and assets and arranging for inspection, testing or maintenance to corporate standards
- Manage effective transport activities within your area
- Deliver improvements in performance for all aspects of logistics within your area
