About this role

As Customs Clearance Manager, you will handle day-to-day management of a large team completing over 100,000 customs declarations per annum. Support and guide the Dublin-based centralised customs team and regional operational teams to ensure effective, efficient, and compliant processes are in place and adhered to. Act as a point of escalation, support, and development of customs knowledge.

Interact with Revenue, HMRC, Transit Offices, and EU customs partners while supporting the declarations team with queries through knowledge or research. Ensure customs compliant processes are adhered to by customs and operational teams. Develop and maintain trust-based relationships with customs authorities in all regions.

Manage and support the Customs team via team leads and supervisors in day-to-day duties, holidays, absences, and rosters. Monitor team performance using daily and weekly figures to compile actionable reports and identify trends. Liaise with HR on staff vacancies, development, and conduct probationary appraisals and KPI setting.

Drive continuous improvements and training requirements for the customs team. Develop, analyse, and present KPIs to identify trends, gaps, and areas of improvement. Collaborate with teams in Ireland and the UK to develop efficient processes and support brokerage and new system rollouts.

Requirements

  • 3+ years team management experience
  • Strong people management and delegation skills
  • Possesses a positive outlook, promoting constructive responses to challenges
  • Strong knowledge of customs systems, requirements, and query resolution
  • In-depth knowledge of customs clearance requirements and procedures
  • Proactive and responsible, taking personal ownership of role
  • Excellent communication

Responsibilities
